Get A Comprehensive Computer Lesson
If your computer skills are nonexistent, it’s a good idea to get a computer lesson and dive right in. Just having an elementary knowledge of how to use the operating system and how to use the Internet will immensely increase the amount of things you can do and open doors that would otherwise be shut for you.
In fact, if you are currently working or seeking employment, knowing how to use a computer well will allow you to do a wide variety of different jobs you never would have been able to before. You are severely limited in the kinds of work you can do without any knowledge of computers, so it is well worth the small cost of a computer lesson or two.
Of course, as you are reading this, you probably already have at least some knowledge of computers because you are obviously online right now (unless someone printed it out for you). Even if you already have the basic skills needed to use the Internet and common programs like word processors or spread sheets, a slightly more advanced computer lesson can make using these programs much easier…and make you more productive.
Almost all programs have advanced features above and beyond the most obvious ones. Word and Excel, for example, may initially seem fairly self-explanatory, but after a couple of specific computer lessons you'll be able to do things with these standard programs that you never before would have dreamed of. Also, it's especially important to be familiar with the features and nuances of operating systems, such as, Windows. A few computer lessons will reveal these to you.
Recently, I attended night school classes held at my community college on the complicated program that is Adobe Photoshop. The computer lessons were a revelation for me. I have begun to really understand that particular program and I can now do things with photos and images I never would have imagined before.
Not everyone has time to go to classes, in which case, I wholeheartedly recommend getting computer courses in the form of interactive CD-ROMs or DVDs that you run on your computer. A multimedia computer lesson can be done at your own convenience, in the comfort of your home and is less expensive. One I recommend is Video Professor. His commercials are slightly annoying, but the courses are very affordable, are fairly comprehensive and offer good tips for most of the programs you're going to use.
